September 1, 2026, 6:30-8:30 PM:

Day 1: Audition Interest Meeting and Clinic

  • Our Audition Interest Meeting and Clinic will be REQUIRED for any dancers who are planning to audition for the 2026-2027 Baylor Dance Company. The clinic will cost $35. You can pay by cash, card, or check at the clinic. The clinic cost will cover your audition fee. During the clinic you will learn more about the Baylor Dance Company, meet team members and officers, and learn the technique and jazz audition combination that will be performed at auditions on Day 2.

What to Bring:

  • Complete Audition Application Online

  • Shoes for Jazz and Hip Hop

  • $35 Clinic Fee

What to Wear:

  • There will not be a dress code for the Clinic on September 1. Please see below for the Audition Dress Code on September 2

September 2, 6:00-9:30 PM:

Day 2: Baylor Dance Company Auditions

  • Dancers will perform the technique and jazz combination learned at the Clinic, as well as learn and perform a short hip hop combination. There will be a callback round following the technique, jazz and hip hop rounds that can include technique, or the jazz or hip hop combination. The final team will be announced by email by September 2 at 11:59 pm.

What to Bring:

  • Audition Contract (Sent after Clinic)

  • Shoes for Jazz and Hip Hop

  • Water

  • Snacks

What to Wear:

  • All Black

  • Hair pulled back in a bun or pony tail

  • Fitted Dance Top

  • Dance Shorts or Leggings

  • Jazz Shoes or Pirouettes

  • Tennis Shoes for Hip Hop

  • You may bring loose fitted clothes for hip hop


What are the recommended skills that I should practice for BDC tryouts?

Recommended Skills:

  1. Triple Pirouette (Right and Left)

  2. Quad Pirouette (Right)

  3. Turns in Second

    • Two 8-counts of turns

    • May also include other advanced skills in turn combos such as changing spots, attitude turns, pirouettes, double turns, etc.

  4. Right and Left Leaps

  5. Center Leap

  6. Calypso

  7. Renversé

  8. Tilt Jump

  9. Tilt Kicks/Tilt Hold

  10. Kicks (Front, Side, Back, etc.)

Other Optional Skills

  1. Switch Tilt

  2. Switch Arabesque

  3. Aerial (Right or Left)

  4. Leg Turn (Right or Left)
